Annotation:

Words are building blocks of myths, and hieroglyphs represent the first attempts to put myths down. Verbal Hieroglyphs is the second book of the author who wrote rubai (Persian quatrains like those by Omar Khayyam) for a decade but then dropped the last line of the quatrain with the classical logic of the Persian poem. Every poem of this book is set against a black-and-white drawing by Elena Muratova, a counterpoint to the mutilayered symbolism of the verses. Original triplets of the author are supplemented with hokku composed to defy mediocre fans of Japanese poetry in Russia. This book is a rare piece of book art combining graphics and poetic expression.
